Scared of heights?
Can you walk the walk…

As part of the ongoing relationship with Insurance giant Allianz, the team at Mesmerise were invited to this year’s National Engineer Surveyor Roadshow to demonstrate the capabilities of VR.

With over 500 engineers in attendance the event proved the ideal venue to showcase Mesmerise’s highrise walk-the-crane experience.

Specific attention was paid to maintaining a real sense of peril and danger while providing a level of fun and gameplay, a mix which resulted in long queues forming at the roadshow stand as players tried to beat the fastest time high score.

The experience has also been showcased as part of a Charity Day at the Insurance company’s head office in Guildford, raising money for charity and introducing VR to the wider company.

“Whilst the experience was intended to be fun and enjoyable, it also had a serious side and gave a glimpse into the real dangers and challenges engineers face on a daily basis as they conduct commercial site inspections.”

The experience was built in Unity for HTC’s Vive – in conjunction with Mark Buchan, a leadership consultant and behaviourist specialist to ensure all aspect of the experience were balanced correctly between challenge and reward.
